Talk und Performance mit dem Künstler Paul Kramer in der HuMBase, mit anschließendem DJ Set von //// im Westend (Eckkneipe).

 

In Paul Kramers Arbeit sind zwei Aspekte wichtig: Improvisation und akustische Prozesse als Ausgangspunkt, sowie die Möglichkeiten der Klangaufzeichnung als kompositorisches Mittel. Frühe Arbeiten basieren hauptsächlich auf Variationen in der Ausführung von einem Prozess (Interpretationen von vorhandenen Werken, „Gedankenfluss“ Gesang, Mehrspuraufnahmen, Karaoke) oft durch die Mitwirkung von anderen Musikern und Nichtmusikern.
Die anschließende Performance Song Cycle (2006, fortlaufend) ist eine inzwischen ca. 100 stündige Serie von Gesangaufnahmen, in welchen er regelmäßig aktuelle Ohrwürmer und Radio Fragmente dokumentiert.

Two aspects are important in Paul Kramer’s work: improvisation and acoustic processes as a starting point, and the potential of sound recording as a compositional tool. Early works are mainly based on variations in the execution of a process (interpretations of existing works, „stream of consciousness“ singing, multi-track recordings, karaoke) often through the participation of other musicians and non-musicians.
The subsequent performance Song Cycle (2006, ongoing) is a series of vocal recordings now lasting about 100 hours, in which he regularly documents current earwigs and radio fragments.
