Code of Conduct (CoC)
1 Self-conception
HuMBASEpartout wants to be a space for everyone. In order to ensure this, it tries to follow a clear line against discrimination, violence, exclusion and disadvantage of individuals and groups and is therefore committed to the following principles. HuMBASEpartout calls on all users and visitors to comply with these principles when working or visiting HuMBASE.
2 Cultural diversity
HuMBASEpartout understands diversity as lived plurality and sees it as an enrichment and an important source of inspiration for cultural work. HuMBASEpartout asks that cultural elements are not used out of context without reflection and an understanding of their meaning and origin.
3 Discrimination
HuMBASEpartout sees itself as a place where the dignity of every person is respected and protected without exception, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, racist or anti-Semitic attribution, religion, ideology, physical or mental disability, neurological diversity, chronic illness, age, language, sexual and gender identity, and social status. HuMBASEpartout asks you to refrain from cultural projects that exclude a person or a group of people.
Discrimination that is perceived by individuals must be taken seriously. This means respecting the fact that a person is discriminated against if they feel discriminated against or offended by a statement or behavior.
HuMBASEpartout strives to provide an inclusive environment to enable self-determined participation and equal treatment. It aims to break down physical, technical, and social barriers to enable unrestricted access to its resources for all. However, HuMBASEpartout asks for your indulgence that the physical barriers in particular are of an architectural nature and that its resources are unfortunately not sufficient to remove them. However, HuMBASEpartout strives to find individual solutions through discussion and asks interested parties to approach the HuMBASEpartout care workers.
4 Appreciative cooperation & communication
HuMBASEpartout values different opinions and asks for open and respectful communication in which everyone has the right to be heard. However, transgressive behavior or behavior that contradicts the principles listed here will not be tolerated. In the event of differences of opinion, HuMBASEpartout asks that you independently seek constructive solutions through dialog and, if necessary, approach the HuMBASEpartout care workers with a request for mediation.
In the event of unacceptable behavior and violations of the General Terms of Use or the Code of Conduct, HuMBASEpartout reserves the right to exclude the persons or groups of persons responsible for using HuMBASEpartout and to expel them from the building. This will be carried out by the care workers on HuMBASEpartout’s behalf.
5 Work on site
HuMBASEpartout is a space for all types of cultural use that do not contradict the principles listed here. To ensure this, HuMBASEpartout must be able to move and develop in order to always remain negotiable. HuMBASEpartout does not wish to do this from a position of power, but rather invites all users and groups of people interested to actively participate in shaping it. In return, it asks for patience and forbearance if development processes are slower than hoped for.
Furthermore, HuMBASEpartout respects the creative processes of all those involved and asks them to do the same. This means taking responsibility for one’s own work and the space used and respecting and preserving the work and space of others.
6 Social-ecological work
HuMBASEpartout sees socio-ecological transformation as a core component of successful cultural work and is committed to aligning its activities and concept with this premise as far as possible. For this reason, it asks that its resources be used responsibly and that environmentally friendly and socially responsible decisions be made during their use.
7 Conflicts
HuMBASEpartout would like to encourage people to discuss conflicts openly, seek support, and show solidarity in the event of inappropriate behavior. The HuMBASEpartout care workers want to act as mediators and links between the needs of the users and the needs of HuMBASEpartout and are available as discussion partners.
8 Care workers
HuMBASEpartout relies on the work of care workers as representatives of its direction and caretakers of its structure. HuMBASEpartout does not want care workers to act as decision-makers or judges unless it is necessary to address violations of HuMBASEpartout’s Gerneral Terms of Use or Code of Conduct or to represent HuMBASEpartout’s needs or rights.
Furthermore, care workers are not responsible for what users create and/or present on the premises of HuMBASEpartout.
9 Future outlook
HuMBASEpartout’s Code of Conduct is regularly reviewed and updated by its care workers to ensure that it meets the needs of all users, the needs of HuMBASEpartout and the changing context of the cultural project. The principles listed here are not intended to be complete, but rather to encourage people to approach HuMBASEpartout with suggestions for expanding or deepening this code in order to jointly create a safe space for all.
