Ihre Performance The Milk Medusa wurde am 4. Juli zusammen mit der Schauspielerin Odessa Lissia unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert und von dem Filmemacher Yanni Caloghiris aufgenommen.
Actually, an exhibition of the Belgian artist Nathalie Vanheule curated by Larissa Friedrich would have taken place at HuMBase from 1st July – 22nd July.
Her performance The Milk Medusa, together with the actress Odessa Lissia, was presented non-puplic on 4th July and recorded by the filmmaker Yanni Caloghiris.

Die Erkundungen von Leben und Tod, Licht und Dunkelheit, Liebe und Melancholie, Ewigkeit sowie Existenz und Fiktion waren die Quellen kreativer Inspiration für zahlreiche Künstler und Künstlerinnen. In den Metamorphosen der künstlerischen Arbeit von Nathalie Vanheule, begegnet uns eine ähnliche Tragik. Ihre Kunst ist wie ein ein Tunnel zu einer unbekannten Welt, in der sich Schwarz und Weiß kreuzen. In ihrem Schaffen harmonieren natürliche Elemente wie Wasser, Feuer, Asche, Luft und Licht mit der Dunkelheit und der körperlichen Schönheit von Frauen. Dies kann mit der erhabenen Bedeutung der Romantik in Verbindung gebracht werden, die einen dramatischen Kontrast zwischen Natur und Humanität darstellt.

„Milch Medusa“ das steht für Liebe, Harmonie, Austausch, Solidarität und Kommunikation zwischen zwei Frauen. Gezeigt wird die symmetrische Beziehung zwischen den beiden Protagonistinnen, die in der Komposition sympathisieren. Der Fokus der Präsentation liegt dabei auf einem Zwei-in-Eins Konstrukt, einem weißen Kostüm, das einem Seiden-Cocoon ähnelt. Die Unmöglichkeit einer vollständigen Symbiose in einem gegenseitig unterschiedlich starken Verlangen und dem verbalen Mitgefühl schafft so auf einen ganz individuellen Blickwinkel auf die kunst von Nathalie Vanheule. Die Umarmungen sowie die allgegenwärtige Nähe beider Protagonistinnen bietet dabei die Möglichkeit, die „Milch Medusa“ zu durchdringen. Hierzu verfolgt die Performance primär das Ziel, auf den gegenseitigen Respekt und die Kraft der Liebe, die zur unaufhaltsamen Empathie wird, aufmerksam zu machen um so ein solidarisches Miteinander zu fördern.

The explorations of life and death, light and darkness, love and melancholy, eternity as well as existence and fiction were the sources creative inspiration for numerous artists. In the metamorphoses of the artistic work of Nathalie Vanheule, we encounter a similar tragedy. Her art is like a tunnel too an unknown world in which black and white intersect. In her work natural elements such as water, fire, ash, air and light harmonizes with the dark and the physical beauty of women. This can be done with the sublime meaning of romance and is associated with a dramatic represent of contrasts between nature and humanity.

The “Milk Medusa” is the title of the performance and projected illusion pictures in the occult atmosphere of the former New Apostolic Church in Stuttgart North. In the middle of the complex and historic main building, the performance is presented with the actress Odessa Lissia and artist Nathalie Vanheule. „Milk Medusa“ stands for love, harmony, exchange, solidarity and communication between two women. The shown symmetrical relationship between the two protagonists, sympathizes with the composition of the background music.
The focus of the presentation will be on a two-in-one construct, a white costume that resembles a silk cocoon. The impossibility of a complete symbiosis in a mutually different desire and a verbal compassion creates a very individual perspective on the art of Nathalie Vanheule. The hugs as well as the ubiquitous proximity of both protagonists offers the opportunity to penetrate the “Milk Medusa”. To do this the performance primarily has the goal to respect the mutual humanity and the power of love that becomes unstoppable empathy for drawing attention to the promote of solidarity.
